I am a graphic designer and art director based on the Mid North Coast of Australia, working across visual systems, packaging, digital, illustration and image-making.
My practice is grounded in a strategic and conceptual approach to design. I look for the underlying logic of a project — the idea, character or tension that can become the organising principle for its visual world. I tend to work by reduction, distilling an idea to its essential elements and establishing a strong underlying structure before building outward.
From that foundation, I develop visual systems that are rigorous without becoming rigid — strong bones that allow for variation, expression and the unexpected. I believe it is the discipline of structure that gives the work its freedom to dance.
My background spans graphic design, art direction and more than a decade working in surface pattern design within the fashion industry. Much of that time was spent helping shape the visual language of Australia's street, surf and independent fashion culture, at a point when fashion was becoming increasingly intertwined with art, music and graphic design. That fast-moving creative environment developed a strong instinct for image, colour, pattern, rhythm, narrative and cultural shifts, alongside an ability to move between graphic precision and more intuitive forms of image-making and world-building.
My work is distinguished by refined aesthetics, original illustration and strong modernist typography. By driving authentic, thoughtful and intelligent design, I create work that is both timeless and unexpected.
I believe good design belongs in the everyday.
